And she spoke words
That'd melt in your hands
And she spoke words
Of wisdom.

to all who favors great Japanese soba please DO read on. (:Shimbashi Soba (Soba So Good) 290 Orchard Road #B1-41 Paragon Tel : 6735 9882 Fax : 6735 9883So on the first time that i went there which was on a Wednesday, it was in the afternoon and as my uncle predicted, it was crowded. The queue was long yet fast moving. & it was not long before both me and my uncle were comfortably seated in the restaurant. After painfully scrutinizing the menu as i was torn between several choices, i decided to order the unagi set.The service was excellent and the atmosphere was rather nice. Not too quiet not to noisy.Chilled water was served not ice cold mind you, just chilled. (: The set came with a bowl of their specialty buckwheat soba (the buckwheat comes from Tasmania in Australia) which can be served either hot or cold. On that day i took it hot. The soba can be eaten with tempura bits served in a tiny saucer, the tempura bits compliment the dish perfectly. ^^ The soba broth is warm and light not too salty or tasteless, and of course very tasty. With the additional seaweed found in the bowl, it was a appetizing dish. The set also came with a bowl of rice, fluffy but not to the extent of stickiness, topped with freshly sliced unagi ( eel ) marinated in sauce. The mushrooms that came with the dish was fresh, plump and juicy. Definitely not preserved dried ones. With strips of tamago (egg) placed in a bunch in the middle of the bowl, it gave color and taste to compliment the rice. Not to leave out the spicy pastel green wasabi beside the egg. The other bursts of color in the bowl came from the shreds of cucumber and crab meat adding to the subtle sweetness and freshness of all the ingredients together with the rice. such a wonderful meal with such great service, it is indeed a place I'd recommend all Soba-lovers and Japanese food lovers to go. ^O^pLabels: Shimbashi Soba
